CentralHave you ever heard of Save A Life Pet Rescue? This incredible non-profit organization is based right here in Central Florida, and they're responsible for rescuing and rehabilitating dogs and cats of all ages, breeds, and sizes. The animals that they rescue are frequently abused, neglected, or have been left to be euthanized in high kill shelters, which makes Save A Life's job extremely important!

Here at Toyota of Orlando, we're big fans of animals (especially dogs - have you met Mr. Toyota?) so we jumped at a chance to be able to team up with and help Save A Life Pet Rescue. Since their inception in 2006, this non-profit has placed over 15, 000 animals with their forever homes, giving them a second chance at life. Here are some of their stories!

See some of Save A Life Pet Rescue's Success Stories!

Lexi

Lexi is a German Shepherd mix who was left outside a high-kill animal shelter in a box with terrible injuries. Her previous owners left her with a shattered pelvis, hip, and leg, and she was in shock and unable to walk. The high-kill shelter where she was dumped didn't have the resources to heal and rehabilitate her, so if not for Save A Life Pet Rescue, Lexi would have been euthanized.

No Kill ShelterSave A Life stepped in and drove eight hours to Georgia to pick Lexi up, and then they transported her to a local animal hospital. Her leg was so badly injured it had to be amputated, and it took months to get her healed. However, after $2, 000 in medical expenses and a long recovery, Lexi was placed with a forever home where she is now living happily!

Tommy

Tommy was attacked by another animal and was hiding outside a 7-11 store on a cold night when a bystander found him and contacted Save A Life. Tommy had severe lacerations and damage to his muscle and tissue, and he needed a skin graft and $1, 600 in medical treatment to heal him. Save A Life stepped in and picked up the bill, and after a year of treatment Tommy is finally healed and ready for action!

Hope

Hope was thrown from a moving car in south Georgia; luckily, a bystander saw the incident and contacted the authorities. Hope was taken to a Georgia pound where, due to her broken leg, she would have been euthanized. Save A Life rescued Hope and paid for the surgery needed to fix her leg; they also got her up to date on vaccinations and deworming. Now Hope is happily living with her forever home!

Joe

Joe was a victim of dog-fighting; he was a bait dog who was used to test other dogs' fighting instincts. These dogs are restrained while the fight dogs attach them. Joe was dumped by his owner after sustaining serious injuries that left immense damage to his legs and the muscle and tissue in them. It cost over $6, 000 to give Joe the specialized procedures and extensive surgeries needed to heal Joe, and Save A Life was there every step of the way. Joe is now safe in a forever home, thanks to Save A Life Pet Rescue!

How can YOU help Save A Life Pet Rescue?

Save A Life Pet Rescue is currently trying to build a new no-kill facility so they can rescue and house MORE animals - they would be able to take in hundreds more animals if the new facility comes to fruition. Right now, they rely entirely on fosters and volunteers to help manage all of the animals they rescue. Since they are non-profit, they rely entirely on donations from people like you and me. The shelter will cost $160, 000 to build, and every penny helps - click below to donate!

You can also help Save A Life in other ways, such as:

  • Donate goods, like dog and cat toys, goat's milk, dog and cat treats, collapsible metal dog crates, metal X-pens, Frontline Plus/Advantage flea and tick treatment, puppy and kitten shampoobleach, blankets, bath towels, and paper towels
  • Foster an animal
  • Assist at an adoption event
  • Transport animals from high-kill shelters to Save A Life Pet Rescue
