Eight to ten million dogs, cats, puppies and kittens enter shelters each year in the United States. Tragically, an estimated 4 million of these wonderful animals are destroyed — destroyed at municipal shelters and other shelters that euthanize animals as a means of population control. At North Shore Animal League America, consistent with our no-kill mission, we work tirelessly to find homes for the animals we rescue.

Educate the Next Generation

The Mutt-i-grees® Initiative will help educate the next generation of children to become more socially and emotionally aware. The Mutt-i-grees® Curriculum builds important social and emotional skills — empathy, self-esteem, team building — helping kids to better care for themselves, the people around them, and animals. This innovative curriculum is being developed by the Animal League’s development arm, The PetSavers Foundation, in collaboration with Yale University’s School of the 21st Century.
